Gatherings

We're a little unconventional.

We're a group of people who set aside time to eat together, hear about each others' lives, and turn our attention to learning about Jesus, worshipping God, listening to the Holy Spirit, and praying for one other.

We know that the schedule at The Table is a bit outside the norm of traditional church. Here are the ins and outs of our gatherings, so you can know what to expect when you join us.

Sundays With Us

Our Sunday gatherings start at 9:30am, and have a relaxed flow. Together, we:

Eat

We begin each gathering around the breakfast table to catch up on each others' lives, potluck-style. If you're visiting for the first time, please don't feel any pressure to contribute: there is always more than enough to go around.

Participate

Our mornings feature sung worship and communal liturgy. These are times for you to focus on Jesus and join in on the collective expression of wonder at his presence.

Learn

Our times of teaching are based on the Revised Common Lectionary liturgical calendar. The teaching team is rotational, and our times together often incorporate reflection, contemplation, and discussion.

Receive

Because Jesus set out a table for his disciples, we join in the practice of taking communion together each time we gather. We also hold time at the end of our services to pray for one another.

Additional Gatherings

The Table is more than just Sunday mornings. On our calendar of events, you'll also find:

Walks

Since the early days of the pandemic, we've taken to walking together. These treks, most commonly about 5K on flat terrain, allow us to have longer conversations and enjoy God's creation. Walks sometimes begin with a short reflection. All skill levels welcome; walking shoes recommended.

Monday Table

Monday Table is a once-a-month, one-hour evening gathering on Zoom where we dive into scripture and hear from visiting guests. Monday Tables run in terms and break over the summer.

Summer

As people are often away on vacation in summer, we reduce our Sunday gatherings to once a month in July and August. We often plan social events during this season, so stay tuned to the calendar of events for scheduled fun.

Kids

We love kids at The Table! While we don't offer formal kids' programming, your children are welcome to be a part of every aspect of our services.

We also don't mind when they need to wander off to read, play on their devices, or colour. Sometimes services feel long to us too.

Who is The Table for?

Everyone is welcome at The Table! We might especially feel like home to you if you identify with any of the following.

You're looking for a place to be known.

We place a high value on connecting with each other on a Sunday morning, and newcomers are welcomed directly into that practice. Warm conversations are a big part of how we operate. If you've felt a little lost in the crowd in the past, you won't feel that way here.

You're looking for something simple.

When our lives are full, church can feel like another item on a long list of to-do's. At The Table, we do our best to keep our services feasible for who we are: people with many commitments who still want to prioritize time with Jesus. Our hope is that no matter whether you're energized, overwhelmed, or a little burnt out, you can find yourself at rest with us.

You're looking for an unconventional church experience.

We'll be the first to admit that we don't offer the programming, structures, or systems of more conventional church contexts. We are program-lite and intermittent. For some people, this low-barrier style of community is a blessing, and we hope you feel extra invited if that sounds like you.
